Amanda's family visit to Japan~ アマンダ一家の来日

Amanda's family finally visited Japan. 
She was my English tutor when I lived in Buffalo and she is a professor of communication in Singapore. She and her parents planned to visit Japan while she is living in Singapore. Her parents came from Buffalo, NY to see their daughter, staying Japan for a week and then going to Singapore with her.  

It was dream for me that her family came to Japan. Amanda is the same age as my daughter and her mom and I are the same age; this made our relationship stronger while lived in Buffalo. More-over, Amanda's parents: Sandie and John welcomed me to their house before I came back to Japan; I was so lucky! This is the reason I was eagerly looking forward to the day they arrived! 

Sandie and I took pictures and we exchanged the pictures when they left Japan. It was interesting for me to see Japan from Sandie's perspective as a foreigner. Plus, Amanda gave me her comments about pictures I chose. 
This post will feature Amanda's comments and Sandie's photos.


私のバッファローでの英語のチューターのアマンダとご両親が
ついに日本に来て一週間滞在が実現しました！

アマンダは今、シンガポールの大学でコミュニケーション学を教えているので

彼女がシンガポールに住んでいる間にみんなで日本に来る事になったのです。

彼女のご両親はバッファローから日本に来て，一週間の滞在後にアマンダとシンガポールに行きました。

アマンダは私の娘と同い年、サンデイは私と同い年ということで

バッファローに住んでいる時に絆が深まり、仲良くしてもらっていました。

さらに私がアメリカから日本に帰る前に

アマンダの実家に泊まらせてもらったりしていたこともあって
日本に来てくれる事をとっても楽しみにしていました。

私とサンデイが撮った写真を、彼らが帰る時に交換したのですが

外国の人の視線で撮った写真の方が面白いかと思い、沢山使わせて頂く事にしました。

さらに、アマンダが私の選んだ写真にたくさんのコメントを書いてくれたので
サンデイの写真とアマンダのコメントを中心にすすめていきたいと思います。

Amanda said-
I tried taking as many pictures as I could. However, with two "moms" at the helm of their cameras, I trusted that the trip would be well-documented.

Amanda said -
I was SO excited for this week to arrive! I felt so lucky – and bragged to anyone who would listen – that I’d be visiting BOTH my American AND my “Japanese Parents!” As a family, we studied the information Tetsuji and Nozomi sent us. It still seemed like a dream.

アマンダもこの一週間をとても楽しみにしていてくれました。

彼女にとってはバッファローから来るご両親と
私達・日本の両親に会えるなんて嬉しいと言って
私の夫が立てた綿密なスケジュールも読んできてくれました。
旅行が終わった後もまだ夢のようだとか。

いかに快適に過ごしてもらえるか・・

楽しみながらも、緊張の毎日でした。

Amanda said- 

This girl was so sweet! That was one thing that impressed me about Japan. Everyone is friendly and conversational. I learned a bit of Japanese on the flight over via Singapore Airline’s Berlitz Travel Language series. It was fun to have the opportunity to practice here and there.

この女の子がとても感じ良く、にこやかに対応してくれたため

日本の人々は親しみやすく話しやすいと思われたようでした。

良かった〜

アマンダは飛行機の中でベルリッツの旅行用の日本語シリーズを見て

日本語の単語リストを作って持って来ていて、色々な所で使っていました。
